Unified Communications
8x8 Work for Web (Beta)
8x8 Work for Web is now available to all X Series customers as a beta preview. Access 8x8 Work on any modern browser* for instant chat, high-quality phone calls, secure video meetings and more.

8x8 Work - Calling
Call Quality Indicator
- Take the guesswork out of poor audio quality with Call Quality Indicator that provides connectivity status during an active call. Hover over the icons for additional call metrics.

Record Voicemail Greeting
- Personalized voicemail greeting informs callers that they have reached the right person when the unanswered call diverts to voicemail. Record a voicemail greeting using the 8x8 Work desktop app or upload a pre recorded voicemail recording. Go to Settings > Voicemail > Add new greeting.
Filter voicemails by ring groups or call queues
- Assigned Ring Group and Call Queue members can filter voicemails by groups.
Automatically mute incoming calls during video meetings
- Incoming calls are automatically silenced to prevent disruptions during ongoing meetings.
Enhanced display of call queue login and logout
- Simplified call queue login and logout experience with the buttons clearly displayed in the app.
8x8 Work - Messaging
Inline Replies
- Preserves meaningful context and organizes messages without distractions. It makes it easier to track information by looking at specific conversations.
Messaging on Android Auto
- Users can receive and reply to messages on Android Auto via voice. It is a fully enabled hands-free experience using Google Assistant.
8x8 Work - Meetings
Virtual backgrounds
- Ability for video participants to obscure background during meetings
- Ability for video participants to use a chosen image as a background during meetings
Mobile Browser Support
- Mobile responsive browser support
- Video Meetings experience consistent with app and desktop browser

Messaging
Automation API
- The new Automation API lets you deploy serverless automations for 8x8 SMS and Chat Apps capabilities. Workflow sequences can be used to trigger actions, for example, sending messages when an incoming message is received.
Business Hours
- Automatic queuing/rejection of SMS sent outside of permitted hours in accordance to country restrictions.
WhatsApp Quote Message
- Reply directly to a specific message in a conversation. Supports image, text, video and files. Available both via the Chat Apps API and 8x8 Converse.
Lookup API
The new Lookup API allows you to lookup three levels of information about a particular mobile number:

- Mobile operator
- Live connectivity and roaming status
Voice
Number Health API
- A new voice API endpoint that lets you check up to date information about any virtual number current status and availability to partake in calls.
